I basically need a library wall of storage and a large height adjustable work surface.
I had thought Vitsoe 606 ( http://www.vitsoe.com/ ) at first, but am now leaning toward Biblomodel ( http://www.library-furniture.com/shelves.htm and http://www.biblomodel.com.mx/section/283.html ) for both cost and load-bearing advantages.
For a desk I'm thinking Ahrend Mehes ( http://www.architonic.com/pmsht/mehe...ahrend/1032717 ), but would welcome another option.
Any thoughts on who else might make similar products with that German post-war aesthetic and a similar or better value proposition?

The big difference is the track, which has hidden holes on the Vitsoe. For what it's worth, Biblomodel did a custom design and drawing for me at the factory too and is willing to build to spec at a negligible up charge. Pretty much I think it comes down to whether I really want the lacquer cabinets or am happy with all steel from Biblomodel. For an office, price and utility might win out. Either way I'll try to post some photos once it is installed. I just wish there was a good alternative to Ahrend. I'm getting quotes well over $3k for a basic desk that would be around $1k from Herman Miller or Knoll, which kills me when I know these sell used for a few hundred euro in The Netherlands.
