I haven't seen one.

They're all over-designed, made by/for graphic designers and adolescents.

I've gone to great lengths to avoid smartphones, because I rather like being away from the internet and out of email reach during the day. Oh, and I imagine the accompanying data plans are expensive, and require long commitments.

I almost bought an old Motoarola "brick", but everyone I know only communicate through text messages.

This small, unknown company named Apple makes extremely attractive minimalist-design phones with an emphasis on consistent and proper user interface design. Check them out. Not sure if they have a website yet.

Nokia still makes simple phones. Can't recommend anything unless you tell us your carrier.

+1

Tired of all the anti-conformity cell phone threads on here (Not this thread in particular, mind you)!

The iPhone > pretty much every other cellphone

AU iida series

These are mostly simple attractive phones. Though, really all carriers here have at least a few sleek, simple phones, which happen to be feature packed.

3rd vote here for iPhone.
I'm waiting for the new iPhone release this summer (June?) to use my AT&T upgrade. I'm not an Apple fanboy or anything, but I see absolutely no reason to switch to another phone...this thing does everything I need a phone to do and it looks good while doing it

im not a fanboy to be serious. just bought an iphone for my wife cuz she wanted one so bad. it is a great mobile device. it has alot of positives.

so what differentiates a 'fanboy' from being just a person who owns one because it is a good/great product? nothing really . it is just a term sent out by those who hate for some reason. i guess they see everyone else has one and they dont.
hey what do you expect? you cant understand the concept of the popularity of a product because it is so good?

I think a fanboy is someone who likes the product or company regardless of any perceived cons with it. Where as we can look at something and admit that something isn't perfect or infallible, weight that against the pro's of the item or company and still say it is good.

No, you are a fanboy when I say you are.

There will always be people who make popularity a negative. Things are often popular for the simple reason that they are the best.

iPhones are a great example. The damn thing just works better than anything else out there.

BMWs are another prime example. They just drive better (handling and involvement without sacrificing comfort) than anything else out there in their class. Yet an enthusiastic BMW owner is often labeled a "fanboy" by detractors, the same detractors, who despite not being able to afford even a base model three series, often make the claim that "everybody drives a BMW!"

Then there's the "I have to use Linux even though none of my apps are supported and I spent the entire last week compiling my graphics driver to do what I could do in Windows in five minutes. But Windows is evil!"

The ugliness of cellphones peaked in the early 2000's. (customizable manga covers!) Designs are getting much better overall.

Damn son, that J-NM01 from 2001 was my first ever cellphone. Paid for all by myself. I was the coolest cat at my high school. Only freshman with a cellphone, and the fuckin thing had color. Big pimpin' baby.

Christ that was long ago. Now if you're a 6th grader without a cell phone you're a loser.
I remember it used to be that everyone's parents said no cellphone until you have a car. Now they can't even let kids turn 10 without getting them one.
