Yeah, but I'm not suggesting they lay on the schmaltz, like they often did during the Tennant years. This business of the Doctor being manic most of the time is very much a product of the new series. In the old series, he was often eccentric, moody, etc. But he wasn't always on
. Taking it back down a notch or two, even to the Eccleston levels of a few years ago, would do Smith a world of service, IMO.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Amy is leaving this year. I know it's common for the Doctor to get new companions as the show goes on, but I have grown attached to the dynamic her and the Doctor have.
I like her too. Probably my favorite of the new series companions.
