Mousse + Wax combo?

Correction, pretend the title is "Mousse + Putty combo" ------ So I've always wanted to try and get the towel dried, out of the shower look for my hair. Its when you've dried your hair, but it's oh so slightly wet, making it full of volume, and very mold-able. I've tried mousse on dry hair. But that makes it just full of volume. It becomes poofy and looks like a ball of hair on my head. I've tried putty and pomades. But those don't have enough strength for that mold-ablility, on medium length hair. And if you use too much for more strength, it's just greasy and gets into a mess. BUT THEN, I was like "Well, mousse will give me that volume. And wax/pomade will give me hold." So I decided to use both very sparingly. I towel dried my hair as much as possible, then I used about a golf ball size of mousse evenly on my hair. Then, to be able to form that fuzz ball on my hair, I used about the size of a penny of putty. Spread it evenly throughout my hair. And BAM. I had volume, and enough hold for an out of shower look. So I'm wondering, does anyone else use this? Is this a normal combination of products? Any tips for even better results?

Don't think there's anything wrong with it but if both of the products has a fragance smell then the combo maybe bad.

I'm happy with Redken #12 rough paste. I use it sparingly once i get out of the shower. Shape while wet and then reshape while dry to break up the parts that stick together and give it a natural textured look.

You may be applying your mousse incorrectly.
