I post in the Trad Forum at AAAC sometimes, but I agree that it's gotten a little odd over there.

I'm not really hostile to trads, I just don't understand why real trads need to talk about it.

I mean they're obsessing about a style of clothing that if you do it correctly, hasn't changed in 50 or 60 years. What exactly is there to discuss?

I'm not at all surprised that the trad forum has been overrun by people who don't really know about it, because anyone who needs to ask if things are trad or aren't, isn't really trad to begin with.

yep, great point.

After seeing the myriad of photos posted showing off one's "tradness" it looks to me like a bunch of guys wearing costumes and the phrase "trying too hard/affected" definitely come to *my* mind.

The fifth post down "dressing age appropriate" has this gem:

"For example, I've been told that my lobster and crab shorts......."

Hmm, see, I read that. What is that anyway? Someone care to enlighten me? Or is it better I'd rather be ignorant of this, uhm, interesting article of clothing?

How is this possible? Did they tie you down and force you to watch movies interlaced with subliminal ads for J. Press? This sounds like it could be an interesting story.

It would seem to me actually that evangalization by trads would be impossible. You can't be recruited into trad. For example, if you live in New England and/or went to an Ivy League school and/or your ancestors came to America before the Revolutionary War then you can be trad, but otherwise, is it even possible to become trad without one of those characteristics?

Are hairy legs trad? It seems kind of "ethnic" to me.
