Man people dressed so much better back then, maybe it's just the fact that everyone seemed to adhere to dress code so much more but the people really add to the scenery, whereas these days I think there are many instances where they don't. I'm proud that Melbourne is very appreciative of its heritage and that some of these buildings and streets look similar to what I see in some places around Melbourne, though I wish there was more of it even here. It would be awesome if people could find some of those streets and post a then and now, to see just how things have changed in the past 70 years (scary to think it was so long ago).

Thanks for sharing. Those are amazing photo sets. The old Kodachrome slides have held up well.

Very cool. I've seen these many times before. If I remember right, the photographer's caption for this photo was something like "bums loafing around in the street."

If he saw these guys and thought "bums," imagine how completely he would flip his shit if he could walk around wal-mart today.

Check out Bum #2's hand-sewn buttonholes! Poor fellow can't even afford to have machine-made ones. What a slob!

Great post OP!!
