well, except for the usc part, i'd pretty much agree with you. we live in a time where outrage is the default mode (check out the comments under that post ... or CE for that matter). and people are genuinely outraged about what she said. TVFN made a corporate decision that whatever pluses she once brought (and not just plus-sizes) were now outweighed by the minuses. I just wish they'd done it a long time ago and for reasons I prefer.

she is known for comfort food. food that makes some people feel really comfortable.

i'm a little out of touch, but it seems like there have been a handful of other small scandals at play with her, no?

Har har... and not to be too serious...

But not exactly in terms of content... Hee Haw was certainly a cartoonish framework but one the Grand Ole Opry, Red Rider and many others created in the 30's. It was always more vaudeville than not on stage... but Hee Haw's musicians and artists were almost all legends and masters from Roy to Cash to Flatt & Scruggs...

Deens food is neither legendary nor masterful.

This is a good way to put it. I've found myself cutting out a number of people in my life who feel the need to live this way.

i may be ok with that. After my interrogation by Food Network, I'll just walk downstairs from their HQ and pick me up some Italian goods and some squab (they're located in the Chelsea Markets building)

I don't have, and have never had cable, but my friend's roommate is constantly watching either the food network or house hunters international so I end up seeing it every couple of weeks. Do they play anything besides various iterations of Chopped? Because that is all that ever seems to be on.

I suppose it is interesting watching what they do with weird sets of ingredients (especially since I never watched things like iron chef), but I find the whole concept kind of ridiculous and could see how it would get old if you watched it frequently.

So considering where you live, I guess some men are islands.
