I think I want a deep fryer, mainly for fish tacos. Anyone have an opinion on which brand I should I get?

I'm actually looking to purchase a new one, so would be interested in some recs, as well. Have been using a DeLonghi, but it's like 10 years old and is starting to smell like deep fried death.

Also, anyone know of where I can find orgeat syrup in NYC area?

A pot and a burner works pretty well.

Granted. But a separate unit comes in handy when transporting to someone else's kitchen, where stovetop space is limited, and you don't want to deal with discarding oil after dinner, which is mainly what I've used it for. Also nice to be able to set the temp and not worry too much about fluctuations.

Equipex makes really good quality stuff. Start with them.

Should be easy to find as I'm sure NYC has plenty of well stocked bar supply places. You could also make your own.

It's not from 30 years ago.

A transcript of the deposition describes an instance when Jackson witnessed Deen’s racial views. Jackson was placed in charge of food and serving arrangements for Bubba Hiers’ wedding in February 2007, and asked Deen what kind of wedding reception it would be. “I want a true southern plantation-style wedding,” Deen replied.

Jackson subsequently asked Deen what type of uniforms she preferred the servers to wear.

“Well what I would really like is a bunch of little n—–s to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties, you know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around.” Paula Deen laughed and said “Now that would be a true southern wedding, wouldn’t it? But we can’t do that because the media would be on me about that.”

get a portable induction burner. has more uses than a deep fryer, is easier to transport, and it will hold a pot of oil at a completely consistent temp.

Now, you realize this is an accusation made in a civil case against her and not fact, right?

great.

Isn't it terrific to live in age in which private conversations are reported on so that, years after the fact, people can be bludgeoned by the scandal-industrial complex and lose their livelihoods?

Why didn't anyone think of this before?

Oh, wait ...

And to think, now the government can read our emails looking for heterodoxy. What a great time to be alive!

Right, and those are the places to hit, because much like ice cream makers, it's go commercial or go home when it comes to fryers. The department store brands just don't get hot enough, so as was mentioned by Matt, I stick with a probe and pot.

I don't actually care either way if she's fired. It's a hell of a black eye for the Food Network for one of it's hosts to be accused of wanting to have a slave themed wedding though.

It's a black eye for your family that you have been accused of raping puppies in the middle of Grand Central Station. That's right. I accuse you.

you do realize that shirley temple movies were made some 70 years after passage of the 13th Amendment?
