Hello, I got my first MTM shirt this morning. It was made by ProperCloth, but I doubt they're responsible for lack of fit. Measures were probably all wrong, but I'd be glad to know what you think of its fit---especially given PC's "perfect fit" guarantee (i.e. they'll get it to fit for free if it doesn't already). (It's been washed twice)

Thanks P.S. My preliminary opinion is that: the cuffs' circumference is too big, the sleeves are a bit too long and the chest may be a bit too big. But since this is the best fitting shirt I've ever had, my opinion isn't very reliable.

Pretty sure anything up to six washes is recommended to guage 'proper' fit, although not sure how much it'd shrink your sleeves by; they do look rather long to me.

Yes, that is part of the Plan---right after I move back to an actual *city*. I have no excuse for the shirt fitting badly though, hence the inquiry.

Thanks.

shirt looks decent but doesnt look like mtm at all.
sleeves bit too long, too much blousing , armholes are too big( unless you like them like that, that is a preference), also , i think it may be just me, but i prefer the dress shirt to have its most mtm look at the chest area. should be more fitted around the chest to define it slightly or enhance it.

Too much fabric at the waist and just overall a tad too blousy, but not awful. The sleeves might be a tad too long, but the shoulders appear to fit well (which is really important).

Agree on ditching the pleated Dockers.

I'm sorry, but that shirt is terrible.

It doesn't fit at all.

And the placket looks huge and doesn't look right for some reason.

Fit is fine, closeness to body is a matter of preference. I personally prefer a little room for comfort and mobility. Maybe take it in a little at the waist, but not the chest.

I would tighten the cuffs around the wrists a little. I'd also go with a narrower placket on the front (it looks like 1.5" or maybe even 2"; 1 3/8" would look better on your frame).

Thanks for the advice.

I agree the placket is too wide. I'll see if they can make it narrower, though I don't see this as an option on the website.

Regarding the cuffs, do people usually, or even only somtimes, get the shirt cut bigger on the watch side?

And the armholes do feel too big---that's actually what I meant by saying that the chest felt too large

Let's hope this can be fixed, too.

Looks good for rtw.
Ha!

I'm sorry, but that shirt is terrible.

It doesn't fit at all.
I don't get the ``I'm sorry'' part. It's not as if I had made the shirt, or Propercloth had seen it on me before shipping it. I have to say that``It doesn't fit at all'' is a bit vague.

So, it looks like this guaranteed fit deal is going to be a very good thing for me :)

Thanks!

Perhaps sending the photos to Seth along with a note about what you want to look like would give you good advice as to what to correct.

I know what I want my shirts to look like, so tweaking measurements is pretty easy for me. But YMMV.

Thanks. I definitely plan to send the pictures to Seth, along with "instructions".

But yes, my mileage does vary, and the reason I'm asking here is to get a better idea of what those "instructions" should be. Already a few comments have shown me new things that are "wrong" somehow. An example is I "felt" the placket was too wide, but I probably wouldn't have mentioned it. Now I will. Hence the multiple "thanks" in my last message.

i have seen a whole lot worse on this forum

the angle of the photos is not great. hard to see a few things

the shirt needs a better pressing.
the placket is a standard size. they will not be able to adjust it.
go with a french front if it bothers you. also a better pressing will not make it stand out.

left sleeve looks ok, the right sleeve looks too long.
the cuffs look too large.
of course with out seeing the measurements it can be hard to make certain changes.

is the collar fused?
switch to non fused for the button down.
how trim do you want the shirt.
the ugly dockers do not help.
but all in all a good first try

In my defense, I tried to iron it and was faced with a sick iron that left a big black mark on a side of the collar (it went away with some effort). So I screamed a little and took pictures without pressing it better. Given the length of the sleeves I think it would have looked a bit rumpled anyway. I may dare to attempt pressing with this iron again, and may also post updated pictures in that case. Shirtmaven: thanks for the very helpful comments! I think the collar is not fused, but that's just my impression after reading the first "fused collar" hit on google. I do not wish the fit to be too slim for now, but it seems like at least the armholes are way too big. Don't you think? Again, would it be sensible to make only the right wrist's cuff smaller, or would the asymetry be too ugly? I wear a watch on my left wrist so the extra space is actually perfect on that side. Thanks, again.
