Fundraising Ideas

Here's the scoop. I play soccer for a pretty small college (6,000 including lots of commuters) and we're trying to raise money to buy new uniforms, warm-ups, etc. What do you lot think some good ideas are for fundraising? Right now our coach has us trying to sell magazine subscriptions for something like ESPN The Magazine or Sports Illustrated, where we keep 75% of the moneys ($30 of every $40). This is obviously a tough sell, because who the hell wants this magazine?

Do you folks have any ideas that have been successful in the past, or you think could be successful, as possible alternatives? Thanks!

host an event, sell tickets.

see if you can piggyback onto some sort of charity auction. get a few of the popular hunky shirtless soccer guys on the block and keep x% of the bidding $. appeal to greed, organize some sort of casino night, or hold a raffle. get prizes donated, or give away free stuff like great seasons tickets to come see the games, etc. elbow grease - get the team together to help someone move all their stuff, or have a dude carwash at the local gaybar or something

Something I just thought of: What about going to doctor's offices and asking them to buy subscriptions? They all have approximately a billion magazines, and $40 for a year subscription for charity isn't a bad price. Thoughts? Any doctors/dentists/etc on here?
