Here in SF, My boss' parking space costs $750/month. Only 1/2 covered.

$175k will get you almost HALF of a run down 1BR condo in the heart of hunter's point where yes, you WILL be hunted on a nightly basis

Yes and $350k in Texas will get you 3,500 sf in the suburbs (20 miles from downtown), fairly new construction and a pool. Probably a small back yard, but mowing is overrated.

Welcome to the wonderful world of affordable living.

The price of paying for 50 -80 deg weather year round. Not to mention the novelty of having Arnold's signature on my UC diploma

My brother lives in Plano. His house is about 2200 sq ft...appraised for $185K or so last yr. Thing with TX I've noticed is that while home prices are relatively cheap, property taxes and insurance rates are through the roof. So you have to take these things into consideration as well. However, Plano/Dallas is on my short list of cities I want to relocate to once I finish my MBA and get the hell out of MI.

Offset by the fact that income taxes are zero.
