Is Uniqlo worth a 5 hour drive from DC?

I'm looking to update my spring/summer wardrobe with a few Ts, polos, and button downs and maybe pick up some denim and chinos....I want to maximize the value for the money ($300-$400). I'll surely take advantage of other stores like the flagship H&M and the flavor of the city...but if I were going solely for Uniqlo, would it be worth if?

How is the fit of their regular line (not collabs) and how do their clothes hold up over time (NEVER but a $10 polo from H&M)

Fit is not as slim as you hear people say. It's cut slightly narrow and proportioned way smaller than most though. Sleeves tend to be shorter, etc.. Quality / price ratio is the best I've seen and the stuff is mostly comfortable to wear.

hell no. order by phone. i think they still do that

say your time is worth $15/hr at the least, the 10 hours you're driving is gonna be worth at least $150 plus cost of travel etc so are you REALLY going to save $150 worth by buying from uniqlo? uniqlo is a good value but not that good. if you're going with some friends to see the city or something, then its worthwhile to stop by.

no store is worth a 5 hr drive..

I think they offer the best bang for your buck at the mall brand level. But I wouldn't dedicate a five-hour drive just to go there. Find a couple other reasons to make the drive and make Uniqlo one of the stops, but not *the* stop.

Word.. go see a show or something in the city and stay with a friend, bam. Worth it. So worth it.

Driving up from DC is going to be expensive unless you have the EZ pass (or whatever the automatic toll payment device is called). If you want to go up to NY for fun anyway, grab a Megabus or Boltbus or one of the Chinatown buses. The first two, if you get them early enough, start at $1 each way, with the most expensive being around $40 roundtrip I think. Is it worth it? No, I don't think so, but if you're going up for other things than sure, stop by.

Thanks for the input...I'm in shape, but not SF slim, so I don't need APC or Dior Slim. I spent a couple of years stationed in NYC and I look for any excuse to make the trip. While I'm there I'll grab some decent food and maybe hit a bar, music venue etc....
Plus I'll know how the clothes fit and I'll be able to place phone orders confidently. Thanks!!

unfortunately the chinatown buses are rickety as hell and the drivers are probably not licensed. driving up to NY will probably run you about $20 in tolls, plus parking would be hell. I've had okay experiences with Vamoose and it's pretty cheap if you book far enough ahead of time:

Of course, taking a train would be ideal, but that's around $250 round trip.

Some of my friends and I have driven 3 hours to get milkshakes. Totally worth it. Fun ride, excellent milkshakes, good times man. If you're going by yourself to save a few bucks though, definitely not worth it.

If you want to go see the city too then I would suggest going. The quality of the clothing is fairly good and the styles are nice at a reasonable price compared to many places.

Yep. I doubt the TS would drive into NYC, go to Uniqlo and turn around to go home. Especially not with all the eye candy in Soho during this time of the year

I was actually planning to take a bolt bus. If I drive I have free parking at the CG office in Battery Park, so I'm lucky. I'm also gonna hit Daffys (can find gems there), INA men, and the flagship H&M. If you have more suggestions for discount clotheirs let me know.... And I do plan to make a day/night out the trip. I'll probably but a 5:00am ticket there, and a 5:00am ticket back.

look into blue in green, self edge, and supreme while you're there also. Even if you're not looking to buy anything, it's worth dropping by.

Totally not clothing related, but hit up the Shake Shack. So delicious, and will keep you going on your trip. Chinatown buses are definitely rickety, 100% shady, but cheaper than the others as well as having the most flexible schedules.
