Lucques. In my top 10 best meals ever; however, I am not comparing it to some over the top restaurant like French Laundry, Le Bernardin, or an el Bulli.

I'd also add Table 8 to the list of fairly upscale restaurants (though not in the same weight class as Lucques).

Philippe's is my dad's favorite place in LA (he grew up there). I've been there a few times and I really like their sandwiches.

Just had a nice dinner at La Cachette Bistro (French) at Ocean and Pico in Santa Monica. Incredible food. Decor is nothing special, but service is good. One of my best meals in the past year. Around $60 to $70 a person.
