sushi zo i still need to check out
sasabune i need to go to as well

Been to all those minus Sasabune and Sushi Sushi, when I haven't went since name is throwing me off. Urasawa ain't worth it man when you look at it, it's good but it's not worth anything close to price paid which is a flight to Japan.

Honestly half the time I just go to Sushi Stop for lunch since it's $10-15 and I get really full if I want rolls. Sushi Gen is solid lunch wise at that cheap price range too but don't get downtown much other than later at night. If I want sushi then I'd like Omakase most of the time but haven't had one where I found value truly met food quality. Had high hopes for Zo but it didn't seem like it was like some of the older reviews on Yelp. And man it's a bit sloppy. Mori was good fish wise but felt like something was missing and some stuff reminded me of Providence. Call me cheap but I don't really think it's worth the cost for most of these places. Kantaro in Torrance / Carson area is actually not bad at $40 a pop Omakase, but fish varies and I usually don't want to drive out there.

Been wanting to try Hide sushi recently westside too but never have cash on me, anybody gone there?

Also need to go to fish market in San Pedro one of these weekends, though have no idea how to buy fish

Sushi sushi is a great hidden spot and I guess I'm spoiled by it with lunch breaks. Sasabune is really good... I overdo it with their omakase. Similar in a sense to sugar fish, yet I feel they do a playful approach to traditional sushi (which is a good thing) all while not catering to the "american" palate where Sugarfish typically shines.

Damn got to try out Sushi Sushi and Sasabune then haha the two places I haven't been on that list.

And 13k what places you go to regularly?

i feel you man i've dropped a lot of cash and while it costs what it costs i don't find much value in it anymore, as far as the best deal i'd say nanasan but it's in oc, like 40-60 bux there and ate like a king, almost everything was very good (couldn't stand oc dork flip flop crowd)

recently had golden state which i love but this time went for some ice cream, salty caramel was off the fucking chain!

Yeah, Nana San is quite good, even removing value from the equation.

I've been to Hide and I really enjoyed it - although I'm no snob like that Yelper so I can't trust my tastes. Great prices too, but yeah, cash only which is kind of annoying. Also, I remember Sushi Go 55 in Little Tokyo being excellent, and I've heard good things about Hama Sushi.

Speaking of Sushi Stop...Kula > SS

Anybody tried Shibucho? I think foodguy has mentioned it and I've heard things from friends but they haven't been in a few years.

Open now below the new Terroni spot, Peking Tavern serves up traditional Beijing street food and unusual Chinese cocktails, providing plated perfection to fill your monthly Instagram quota — awkward selfies notwithstanding.

New shop opened up in the Arts District - Alchemy Works. It's run by the wife of one of the head dudes from Apolis. Mostly womens clothes, but some home goods, cool knick-knacks, books, and a selection of Gitman Vintage, Hill-Side, and Armour Lux for men. Regardless, it's worth the stop-in if you're in the area - the space is super dope. Really well done.

Note: What I got from via a small conversation was that more menswear would be coming in - moving forward it may be stocking Apolis-approved 3rd party labels.

H. Lorenzo is having a big tent "sample" sale.  50-70% off a ton of really cool pieces.

Also, not sure if it has been posted, but Factory Kitchen (italian) opened in the arts district recently.  I'm loving it.

Oops forgot about this thread. I don't really go to a regular place. I would say Sushi Sushi only because it is really convenient for me on my lunch break, but now that SugarFish is also nearby I go there a few times too. I don't eat sushi once a week, but on occasion. Living on the west side I also visit the typical Sawtelle stops (Hide, Hayama, Kiriko), and many other listed on this thread. I think its fun to visit the many different offerings we got in LA, though I do need to venture out to the OC to try some of their offerings when I'm in the area.

If you didn't know, they get their ice cream from Scoops on Heliotrope. Really good ice cream offerings
