Watching Top Chef makes me want to go to Brooke Williamson's gastropub, The Tripel, probably next week sometime. Its right by me, but usually when i go its pretty packed.

haven't been, but the word is it's one of those places that everyone will say they went to when it opened ... meaning, it's probably going to get a lot better and a lot more famous, but right now it may be more ambitious than it is great.

huh, could be neat. maybe we'll go to papilles, petrossian, or la botte instead. thoughts?

williamson's hudson house is solid, and the tripel should be even better.

I actually just got back from the tripel and had their burger. Pretty solid...a little sweet and had a pretzel bread but it worked and they had good beers. I'll go back next week to try some of the small plates and more beer. Place is tiny

Stefan's at LA Farm is probably worth a visit if your guests have a sweet tooth. You might even consider skipping dinner.

A bunch of my friends went to some place called Hart and the Hunter. I think it's new...anyone heard of this? I'm so lazy I don't even want to open up a new tab and look it up

Hey guys been about a year since my last time through town....Is Sushi-Gen still about as good as it gets in town or is there someplace you really recommend for top notch sushi? Thanks for the input

killed it at tsuruhashi last night in fountain valley

we had:
raw beef sashimi with quail egg
kimchi fried rice and egg soup
kobe cut something something
prime rib eye
prime rib eye cap
tsubo kalbi or someshit
pork belly
pork cheeks
prime outside skirt

I think that was it, was all excellent but one of the cuts.

hit up picca last night, it was really solid. drinks were really good there.

ordered about 14-16 dishes between the 4 of us, the standouts were the seabass cerviche, crispy duck breast over rice, a few of the various ways we had scallop and other seafoods (over a mashed potato like a piece of sushi), the black cod skewer was really awesome and this crispy rice dish that was made like a croquette.

Not too funky but Mohawk's holiday store is pretty well stocked with random things
