Perch lounge is my go-to spot downtown. Gets crowded (line not upstairs) on the weekends though. I usually go places earlier rather than later.

You're thinking of the New Otani...it changed into a Sheraton or Westin one of those chains...saw that the other night, thought it looked weird.

Stella Rosa was good, though I prefer Mozza's pizza. Good drinks, good burrata, had a prosciutto special pizza, amazing. Good spot, worth goign to again.

Ya it's a good spot, bigger portions, cheaper (except the stupid charcuterie plate don't ever get that). Mozza def more flavorful and their cheese is superior.

What's the good word with Sassafras? Thinking about going this Saturday to celebrate my transition to a new decade. I'm a fan of their previous work (Bigfoot, Thirsty Crow) but when they say it's on "Santa Monica & Vine", that scares me - especially the Vine part. Any of you gents hit it up already?

is that where Vinebar used to be? Or that Ace of Spades place?

I'm assuming it is next to Ace of Spade - I was told to go there after Sassafras.

They never list where they will be on their site or twitter. I wanted to call them but they have no phone number. I emailed them but they never got back to me. They must really hate customers.

they finally opened up shop in sawtelle like 2-3 weeks ago. I never been, but every time I pass by Sawtelle it's packed.

Staff was great including hostess, server and bartender who even let me sample some scotch. Wasn't expecting the level of service we got.

I am going this monday. I wanted to go to Animal first but they were not open this veteran's day so hopefully Son of a Gun will do!

what did everybody else think of Son of A Gun? is it really not worth it?

From my experience, Son of a Gun seems like seafood for people who are scared of seafood. If you want everything to taste like mustard sauce and bacon you can find cheaper options.

I agree its kinda strange that they don't use the vermicelli. The soup is really good on the west side, just wished they used the standard noodles. Service is ok though.

I went to Seoul Sausage. It's really overpriced and nothing special. pretty poor value for the area. I wouldn't go back.

By my estimation Son of a Gun is just seafood for people who are scared of seafood.

I wouldn't go anywhere called seoul sausage.

Son of a gun is great and who is scared of seafood (like it's a anything to be scared of) lol8[1].gif
