I was over at Zee's getting some shoes made this week and called into Lee Baron's on the way out of the arcade. There was a bloke there picking up a suit and the fit looked pretty good. I know he does a decent suit, jacket, but what about shirts. I had a look through his fabric rolls but didn't have time to check his swatch books. How does his work compare to Jantzen? And what about the quality of his fabrics?
I then thought I'd check out Ascot Chang at the Peninsula. A great step up in class and in service compared to Jantzen. I was actually wearing a Jantzen shirt and I was interested that the tailor asked if I had had this shirt tailored. I asked about this and he said he thought it was off the rack by the fit!
I ordered one shirt @ HK$850. That's over double Jantzen's price so I hope it looks significantly better. Ascot Chang's fabrics (the good ones like Mason) come out at HK$1650 per shirt. That's starting to to be very expensive in my book. Still, I'd rather have one terrific shirt than five average ones.
Any advice, thoughts, welcome.
