thats great but I am not the type of car person that knows, or cares about the specs of my engine, I dont have the time to, I want something that is fun to drive, looks great, has gret features, is awd, fast and quick, etc.

True some people may be amazed about the engine in a specific car and buy it just because of that but I am not one of them. I dont get why this is so hard for some to grasp, I would think it is the norm, whereas the people absorbently concerned with the minute details of their cars engine are the exception, no?

I drove the 2.0T 211. It felt heavy and sluggish and just wasn't fun to drive. It didn't drive the way it looks, which is to say sleek and badass. I knew that if I got it, I would've been wishing that I had gotten something that was faster, which is why I got the S4 instead.

You sound like a moron. I highly doubt you are even 16. The engine completely changes the feel of the car. It is, in fact, what is used to move the car forwards, and sometimes, backwards. In a car that does this significantly faster than any of the other cars listed, it is impossible that you could not tell the difference. This is simple physics, not anything to do with you knowing or caring about "engine specs." The fact that you can't tell the difference, repeat internet forum BS about BMWs and "yuppies," can't spell or use punctuation, and think you can buy loaded cars off dealer lots at less than invoice for base models, leads me to believe that you are less than sixteen years old and have never actually driven a car.

actually graduating law school near the top of my class in May, go back to washing your dishes at McDicks, peasant... when u are about 30 you might be able to move out of moms basement.

ur one of the typical SF (or general internet) douchebags that throws out names and insults like a 12 y/o child, and would shit themselves if actually confronted by anyone in the "real world." You have failed to provide anything approaching useful to this thread, which I am sure is common place when you either speak or type, so it shouldnt come as surprise.

The yuppies comment derives from what I view everyday where I live, BMW is the "yuppie" car, thats jsut the way it is, doesnt mean its a bad car, just rather have something I am not going to see 20 of on the way to work in the morning. Crazy concept huh?

Your jealousy is astounding... keep saving those nickels you find while mopping up the floor at night and one day you may be able to by a used 335i for yourself... however doubtful.

btw nobody believes anything you spout off, just look through the various posts in which you spend 90% of your days/nights regurgitating facts about various things you (1) dont own; (2) havent accomplished; and (3) will never achieve, merely by researching them on the internet and pretending. There is a reason everytime you speak, either here or on other posts people are disgusted by it.

If you are going to change cars every 2-3 years, lease. Leasing hedges against risk in the used car market (amongst other things). I can tell you that with the economic meltdown, all of us turning in our leases in the last two years have been feeling pretty good.

Go to www.ridewithg.com and learn the leasing formula (it's very simple) and he posts current money factors and residuals.

Actually I agree. If you are going to pick the Audi lease it for the while it is on warranty and only you will decide whether its reliability, functionality, pleasure-deriving experiences are enough to make you want to buy it.

You're one of those guys on the internet that throws up their dubious "credentials" and/or education in order to try to win arguments with people they've never met. Projecting much? Enjoy your room in your parents house.

When people say stuff about 'oh engine doesn't matter, can't tell the diff bullshit' blows my mind. These are the same people who go nuts over a goddamn watch movement and will pay premium, but yet when it comes to something actually meaningful [in my mind] they act like it's no big deal. There is a majour difference between between 335 and 328 [and the 320 which I drove in germany not too long ago]. Engine makes a huge difference in a car, gearhead or not. If you don't care about engine, then just buy a 4 cylinder Kia and be done with it. Or just buy a diesel and save some money on gas. Oh and if you can't feel a diff between the current diesels and gas, youre nuts. The torque pull is immediately noticeable. Now that I am done with my pointless banter, purchase something a year or 2 old under warranty. For driving experience, I loved the audi a4 diesel I drove in ger. Not even sure if they make a tdi here in the states but I would highly recommend. The new M series infinitis look pretty cool, but haven't driven one and I am sure they'd be above 40k so that's probably out. So I guess my choice is something along audi lines, pref diesel.

I completely agree you should look for something a year or two old under warranty. You avoid some of the massive depreciation and you will get a much nicer car for your money. Make sure you factor in tax, title, insurance because that can really add up depending on where you are. Also, remember things are a hell of a lot more expensive to fix than on a beater car - my car was broken into twice within first few months of ownership; passenger window was $600 of which I paid $500 due to deductible, then back window was $950 and again I paid $500. I bought new tires, another $1K. Stuff adds up fast.

Still have yet to decide on a car... went back and test drove the 328 and 335, as the new 335 was not in when I was there last. If I go BMW I am gonna go for the 335 x-drive coupe version, however I cannot decide between the 10 or 11' version, I actually like the 10' body styling quite a bit more but there are only about 10 left in the Northeast.

I think the A5 has been crossed off, the more I saw it in person the less I liked it (same with the A4). I have yet to really check out MB just because I dont really like the styling that much, the front end on the C looks nice but from there back I dont like it. I need to make a decision in the next few weeks.

I can get a 10' 335i coupe x-drive with the prem., cold weather, nav, for around $45k. sticker new on the ones he printed for me was $52.5k with all those options (pretty much fully loaded except for sports pack which comes with those horrible paddles on the steering wheel). There is a $2.5k back on 10's and then a 7% negotiation cushion, so I am thinking $45k is a fair estimate. Really thinking about pulling the trigger.

I may go check out the Cayman (reg. not the S)... other than that I am not sure what else to explore, I do not like the G37 at all.
