Death of Lajos Bálint

Thread Starter
This came to me today, and as it wasn't on account of any personal relationship I thought I'd post it:

Quote:
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of my dear husband and the father of our children, Lajos Bálint, on 20 March 2010, at the age of 55. The human and professional void this loss leaves behind can never be fully filled but we are determined not only to cherish his memory but to continue his work as he would have wished.

As you will appreciate, we will need a brief period to gather our thoughts and pick up the thread that has been so cruelly cut. We will be happy to welcome you again thereafter and thank you in advance for your continued support and loyalty.

The Bálint Family

When the Lord saw that the path was too long, the mountain too steep and my breath too short, he laid his arm around me, and said: “Come, it’s time to go home!”

despite the tragedy for his family, he'll leave a big gap in the trade. a great ambassador for his craft and the city he lived in.

Very sad.

I believe he attended me when I visited his shop in the Fall of '05
in search of RTW shoes. The service I received was no less than
extrarordinary. I am an extremely difficult fit, as I have mentioned many
times. Vass couldn't fit me in Budapest a few days before. For probably
close to 45 minutes the staff measured and tried numerous shoes.
No luck. This was done with a friendly and patient spirit that made
for a rewarding experience despite the outcome. I am confident that
the business will continue to follow his example.

He was one of the great embassadors of classically elegant footwear and a true gentleman. He will be missed.

A gentle man and great shoemaker.
