Footwear to go with shorts

With summer approaching, I find myself wearing shorts more and more often. But I never quite know what to wear on my feet. I think wearing shoes with socks look rather ridiculous, but I also think that wearing shoes without socks is gross, though I might be wrong (if you do it, tell me your experience!).

Basically, I am now looking to hear your experiences regarding this matter, and suggestions for flip-flops, sandals, shoes, or even something I didn't think of.

Sandals or canas sneakers. Chucks work great, and you cna wear them barefoot and throw them in the wash if they get stinky.

And I don't mind the socks if it's the right shoe, but if you do they make socks that won't show on even the lowest ankle.

Or for a comprimise, those canvas shoes made by beach companies that call themselves sandals.

Anything that catches your eye, really. Shorts are a casual thing for relaxing on a hot day. Pick something out to match that. There are a billion options with sandals. Pick up a pair of rainbows or something. Decent leather flip flop and decently priced.

hah, I know it's not quite orthodox, but shorts really do change how your footwear looks. Certain shoes that I would wear in a heartbeat with jeans end up looking quite awkward. I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.

I'm sorry about that; I looked on the first page and didn't see anything relating specifically to this.

Why not go barefoot-- it always matches with shorts. To claim otherwise would be like saying your hands require gloves in order to match your shirt.
