As a result, it's possible to order a European "spare tire" designed specifically for the 3.

Thanks - but not much use with a hardtop convertible (I can fit a newspaper in the Trunk). It was a killer ride in LA - though driving my wifes car more often now..since moving to DC

I have checked Tirerack - $450 & change!

Funny this thread should come up... My co-Worker is replacing the Bridgestone's on his 128i (Sportpack) tomorrow... Canadian pricing, the OEM Runflats sell for 460 a PIECE for the rears... Absolutely insane! We did some checking around today... Read some reviews, comparisons, etc... I believe he'll be ordering some Hankook's tomorrow for 200 shipped a piece... For those of you unfamiliar check this out... http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...12_evo_page_10

To the OP, did you consider Tirerack or a.. BMW dealership? They have plenty of the Potenzas in the right size.
Correct. Runflats are nice for a) women, b) who don't know how to drive, and c) who can't be bothered to change a flat because it's dark outside. For everyone else, they suck. And I'm speaking from experience.

That's precisely the problem. I had to swap out two runflats on two separate occasions because they had developed "bubbles" on the sidewall (like the OP) before I got the picture. Just last week my flat tire monitor came on; found out I had a nail driven into my rear passenger side; and BOY did it feel sweet paying $35 to have it patched up. $35 vs. $500. Hmmmm.... Speaking of fanboys, I do admit that when I swapped the Potenzas out I bought what most people were recommending - Michelin PS2s. I don't have much of a frame of reference, but they handle wet weather pretty amazingly and get consistently rave reviews. Expensive, though.
