BMW - Run Flat's

Would anyone know a good resource for Bridgestone Potenza's in the DC/MD area?
I have serious impact 'bubbles' on the 2 rear tires - from these 'shitty pot holed' roads.

Word of advice: ditch the run-flats altogether. Get yourself some normal tires. They soften the ride and don't cost an arm and a leg to replace. I'll never, ever go back to run-flats.

This is the correct answer.

I know people with new BMWs that go to car control events JUST to burn the crap out of those tires and get new ones.

+1

Run flats are garbage.

I agree that you should get rid of the runflats, but whether you do or not I would order the tires from Tirerack.

They have a warehouse in MD, I believe. You should have whatever you order (as long as it's in stock) the next day.

Didn't BMW ditch the spare tire for the runflats? Hope you have roadside service!

Run flats are not a perfect alternative to a spare anyhow. I have run flats atm and will be getting rid of them when i can decide on a new set of wheels. just get an emergency patch kit and a small compressor and you're in just as good a place as you would be with run flats.

That's correct. Run-flats = no spare; but new BMWs come with 4 years' worth of roadside assistance. Apparently, there are also workarounds; I haven't looked too deeply into this, but word on the street is that the European 3-series still ship with regular tires. As a result, it's possible to order a European "spare tire" designed specifically for the 3.

I've not heard anything positive about run flats from anyone I know who has them.

I have them and echo your comments, but are you guys seriously saying that roadside assistance is an acceptable alternative? are you all planning to conveniently get your flats when you have a few hours to kill and nothing better to do?

Depending on roadside assistance is risky. The last time I had to use it, I waited for over two hours.

There is nothing wrong with run flats for everyday driving. Most of you drive to and from work in your BMWs. They are also nice when your attractive wife gets a flat and can drive home rather than pull over the side of the road at night. Stop the fanboy bullshit repeated from the car forums. To the OP, did you consider Tirerack or a.. BMW dealership? They have plenty of the Potenzas in the right size.
