Need good cell phone for texting

I want a cell phone that sort of slides into halves. I text a lot more than I call these days. I don't want an Iphone, I want keys to touch. I also don't care about internet or email so that Android shit is probably out too. What is the best regular cell phone with good call quality and ease of typing? I'm on Sprint but would change to Verizon. I've had an iphone by the way, and I thought it was gay.

I would say to get a Bberry, but not the slider. Get the World Edition or something.

There are better phones out now or about to be released but look into the HTC Touch Pro 2.

Was on my radar for a long time before the HD2 came out and dethroned it as my "I want it" phone.

Biggest con I've heard is that it's a little thick which tends to be an issue with most sliders.

If you want to go to Verizon, go for the LG Touch.
The touch screen is easy to use, etc, but it also has a full keyboard on the inside, and texting is a breeze. I've had mine since.... oh, July or August I guess, and am very happy with it.

The HD2 is not a slider type phone while the Touch Pro 2 is.

T-mobile has released their version of the the HTC HD2 and I was just about to get it when I found out that officially it won't be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 7.0 so I held off. T-mobile does have the Nexus, which is a great Android phone but I've held off because you have to buy it directly from Google and there is no T-mobile support.

For the OP, if you don't care much about data and 3rd party apps, I think one of the BB phones would be best. They are noted for their keyboards and Email capability. I know you are interested in texting and not Emailing, but a phone that is good at Emailing should be good at texting.

Uh...that's why I suggested the TP2 and not the HD2.

I was in the same boat as you a week ago, only needing my phone for texting and making the occasional phone call. I chose the env3, solid keyboard and good call quality. I can't really find anything bad to say about it so far.

I'm looking for the same thing. Something that makes texting easy and fast and has good call quality (both regular and speaker). I'm on T-mobile: touch screen is a plus, and I need a phone with no data plan required. I would have bought the Rogue on Verizon except for the $10/mo. required data plan.

Looked at the Gravity 2. Seems OK. Looked at the "Highlight" but the call quality sucks. Anything else out there?

I got one in September and I'm happy with it. With anything fancier you have to pay for data packages and whatnot, which I have no use for.

well considering you dont want anything with android or that, maybe an LG EnV is in your market. LG and Samsung make a shit ton of slider/flip phones with full keyboards that you can get without unlimited data.

I have a samsung from Sprint that has shit call quality but pretty great for texting. I like a horizontal keyboard rather than vertical, I have enormous hands.

Problem is, the phone is temperamental and sometimes when you slide to text, the phone shuts off.

You really should get the LG Touch then. The only difference is it's a flip-up instead of a slider. But the call quality is great, speakerphone is great, and the keyboard is a full-on QWERTY. Trust me, I have full on dick-fingers and I can text like a madman on this thing.

Plus, they've been out long enough now that they should be pretty cheap.
