1) The not boring LCD Soundsystem songs
2) Early Animal Collective
3) Bicycle-centric lifestyles
4) Pitchfork (I know.....but especially if you generally skip the reviews and pop-electro knob-slobbing it's a great resource and you'd be surprised at the amount of actual outsider stuff on there, also Brandon Stosuy)

The loose definition of the word hipster, the fact that anything and anyone at any time can be considered a hipster. also, it's been my experience that the people who spend the most time mocking/discussing hipsters are the most likely to be considered hipster by the general population.

On the subject of a bicycle centric lifestyle, fixed gear/single speed bicycles. Pure bicycle simplicity. No skinny jeans nor foo man choo required.

Pitchfork was a great thing to discover as a youngster in the late 90s who was in the process of discovering new music. Reading it sort of coincided with a magical moment (that was probably as much a subjective product of my stage of development than anything external going on in the music world) when there was just enough exciting new music to always making new discoveries and sharing old ones but not so much that it became a chore to keep up with and being into good music meant knowing which new album that no one would listen to in 2 years was just leaked the day it got leaked not the week after. Because it was part of that (invented?) moment for me, I will always have an affection for it that is at best loosely connected with the website's current incarnation.

They provide cheap labor for any uber hip retail brand, coffee house, bike shop....etc.

I imagine a healthy amount of their wardrobe includes AApparel....so they're buying American!

God Bless America.
