Takashimaya to close NYC store

I love this store, although it is never very full. It was an oasis of calm retail on 5th ave. It hasn't been quite the same since the flower department was moved from the entrance. I will miss it

Too bad. I always liked that store, though it was very awkward and I think a lot of the merchandise was not great. The first floor was always fun around Xmastime and a pretty good go-to place for little gifts. Last time I was there, I saw Mariska Hargitay. Meow.

When does the store close? Is it June?

We are there in two weeks. Is it worthwhile going there or has everything been picked over?

The tea room is one of NY's unknown gems. I have spent memorable hours there and will miss it.

This sucks.

The tea room had a lot of nice, unique gifts as well. It is sad to see it close. It was an oasis of calm on 5TH.

Was in the store a week ago and was surprised with the lack of inventory. Display cases were empty. Sales person said the store would close mid June and most of the merchandise would be returned to vendors, so no big closing sale. Could always find something interesting, will miss having this style of store in NY.

Did they stop selling the lunch boxes?

The tea room is fantastic. Where will we go next?

Without the tea room, I would probably head up to the third floor of BG. The staff is nice there, lunch is always good and best of all, with the exception of the noon hour, it is relatively quiet.
