Seriously Need Advice on Trip to Europe (UK, FR)

Five to nine days, probably seven is more likely, only known requirements are London and the Eurostar to Paris. Questions:
  • How is the best to book something like this? Are packages with Expedia et all worth it? Does anyone use travel agents anymore? Any tips on finding places to stay? Even with the Web finding something with such an information defecit is hard -- I wouldn't even know what general areas in the different cities to stay. Suggestions?
  • Worth trying to put in a different city? Drive to Belgium perhaps? Vienna would be incredible but it seems a bit too far away.
  • Better to hit Paris or London on weekdays?
  • Looking for $4-6k total for two.
  • Trip's not for me but it's more important to me than if it was. Can answer all questions.
Alright, hook me up, gents. ~ H

Expedia is fine. I prefer to book Eurostar on the Eurostar website. If the side trip is to Belgium, skip Brussels and go to Antwerp. Brussels is really an awful city. Personally, I would spend my time in London and Paris, and maybe take a short side trip out to the country. It seems to me that a lot of restaurants in Paris are closed Saturday evening, so I'd probably try to spend Saturday in London. Sunday is, well, Sunday. Price is going to be tough, these are expensive cities. London is especially difficult because lower cost hotels are still really expensive.
