Drinking Jagermeister

Thread Starter
I bought a bottle of jagermeister a while back to make jager bombs. I never got around to doing that and instead took the recommendation off another post and tried it as a digestif after dinner. Not bad at all.

Was wondering whether anyone drinks this stuff straight and how to get the most out of it? In my two attempts I drank probably a little more than a shots worth 'neat' in a crystal stem glass (like a small Sherry glass).

Also how does the jagermeister compare to Benedictine and Grand Marnier? I understand that these are different style digestifs however was interested where the jagermeister sits compared to these two well spoken of classics.

Jager is okay. I like it better in bombs than on its own.
Fernet is where it's at.

put it in the freezer. ICE cold is completely different. not a striaght up drink. Take a shot or mix with red bull or dr. pepper.

Jaeger is crap to drink as a drink. IT's a shot, period. If you want a digestif / apertif, Ouzo or good sambuca (Strega or Molinari) shaken vigorously.

I wouldn't compare it with Grand Marnier or Benedictine -- completely different animals. I would more compare Jager to the Italian Amaros, like Nonino, Averna, or Meletti. ~ H
