first roll of film

so i got me a 35mm and having not shot film in god knows how long and always using the auto focus settings on my digital slr Ive come to respect the talent it takes to take good photographs. Not that i didn't know this already. I took some photos with my new camera and played around with expose times, f stop, and focus in hops that after the roll was developed that I would have something to learn from. well seems i have a lot to learn. Im ok with focusing at about 6 to 10 feet. Most of my shots were playing with exposer and focus in macro shots though. so many did not turn out well.

I guess ill show the ones that weren't
horrid:

so its not horrid... well my other frames on the roll were but i think i can do a lot more with my next roll.

also anyone recommend a good place to get rolls developed? I hear costco is relatively cheep and not to bad.

What kind of cam are you using?

Unrelated to your question, but I once took film photos of a gratituous sexual act an ex and I performed and the guy at the photomat refused to develop them, plus gave me a stern lecture to boot.

One of the many hazards of not upgrading to digital.

good stuff,if you're wanting to shoot more B&W and you're not vehemently opposed to wal-mart you can get 3 rolls of 400cn for around 9 dollars iirc.

that doesn't sound terrible...

Just out of curiosity hows walmarts photo processing form anyone that has used it. Id prefer to not get any prints when i process my film and just get a photo disk as most of my photos aren't that impressive and i can always get prints made letter if i like them.

well than you are sort losing the reason to use a film based camera, if you get a disk instead of the develpoed roll and hard copies you are getting your fotos in digitized in some form.

Not bad. Did you use C-41 film?

I haven't shot film in forever. It's a shame. I have a beautiful old hasselblad that has been neglected for too long.

i'd go to SAM's club if you yourself, or any friends have a membership.

they do disks complimentary w/ processing iirc.

target is decent, but not always as fast.

the place i'd avoid is walgreens... they are ridicu-expensive!

good luck mang

keep us posted on what you come up w/.

Unreal. Do it again for effect.

Try a true B&W Ilford or Kodak (T-Max or Tri-X) and get it processed as B&W.... worth the price difference and hassle. For cheap B&W processing I've found that Snapfish has the least color cast of the more well known developers.

yes i have noticed that this film gives off an interesting hue not quite black and white but something close. I got a few rolls of it so im still playing around with it.

Next time I'm home, I really should digitize some of the stuff I've done. I've got some decent photos, but they're just gathering dust along with the AT-1 they were taken on.
