Just wondering. Even though modems were a pain in the ass and it used to drive me crazy when someone would pick up the phone while i was gaming, there was something quite soothing about that sound.

this reminds me of all the trend of tributes to old-school sounds like, cell phones i know alot of people who have these old school nintendo sounds on it or from atari, screen savers back to the old days, shape of the old form desktops and so forth.
not the technology, but the bells and whistles, these seem to be making a come back as well sort of like fashion

it would be cool to get that modem sound for my computer just for kicks. or as a ringtone

you guys are lying if you're not at least semi-nostalgic/excited about it - it's a trained response just think, for a long time that was the sound that meant pr0n was just around the corner...

The sight of that 56K gave me a semi-woody. Back in the day, I only had a 14.4K modem. The 56K modem was too expensive and I had to save money and wait for it to come down in price.

Then I got to college and discovered the pleasures of a T3 line.

US Robotics 56k was the shit - though I had the internal

When I first had "internet" access, it was offered through Prodigy and there was an additional fee (by the minute) to access. That may have been still around the time of the 14.4.

I was on Prodigy. Figured out a way to continue to get 1200 "free minutes" over and over again. Also did it on AOL. Was naughty.
