Is the phrase 'I love you' something you say very often?

It was brought to my attention I say it to quite a number of people.

I was driving and left a message for my best friend (kid is practically my brother) to the extent of ".... love you man"

and it's something I say to friends as much as I say it to family.

I was just curious if its a phrase you sound yourself saying to a lot of people, or if not your 'relationship' w/ the phrase.

I say it to my family, my girlfriend, my best friend from HS and my best friend from college, everytime we speak. Noone else, unless they do something really nice and it's as a joke or something.

Wife and kids get it all the time. I also find it rather disarms detractors to end the meeting with "so, no more AOB? Love you all"!

Substitute the RubeBabes for 'Lish, and this ^ pretty well sums up my usage. Oh, and kwilk.

Like most phrases, repetition makes it prone to dilution of meaning. We said it sparingly in my last relationship, but only because we both agreed on the risks of overusing it. I noticed in my first serious relationship, the phrase sort of became something we'd say if there was a lull in the conversation. We said "I love you" a lot.

I say it with my family. If I'm in a serious relationship, and I'm feeling amorous, but it's a big step the first time. I say that I love a lot of inanimate things, but I don't say I love you to anyone I don't care pretty deeply about.

I haven't said it to anybody in a decade.

On special occassions in my first marriage. Frequently now in my second mainly because of my wife. She says it often and easily. She says it in a way that doesn't expect a reply. It is very special and I really appreciate it because I also know she means it.

pretty often, but try to avoid over-doing it in intimate relationships, as i've experienced it being used as a conversational (among other thihngs) crutch in an early relationship as well. all my close friends and family get it all the time though.

Only to my wife, and not as often as she'd like. Never had a tradition of it with my parents.

This one actually sounds like it's being said in earnest.
