Can I include member of political group in resume? - Page 2

Politics is one of the most important topics to avoid in an interview/resume situation, and at the office in general.

If I saw that, I'd think you were an idiot for being a democrat, and not interview you. Wanna take that chance with other people?

Unless youre interviewing for ACORN or greenpeace or some other org that is 99.9999% hippies.

DO NOT include personal political/religious information. It is considered poor judgment even if the person reviewing your resume agrees with you.

All of my work experience has been in government and politics. Now I can live with my parents forever and tell them that's why I Can't get a job.

This is why I tell people that putting Federalist Society on their Law School resume is the employment kiss of death.

This is very true. A few years ago, I was put in charge of the hiring at my law firm. One of the first resumes I reviewed was a young woman who listed the Federalist Society. My firm is a notably left-leaning plaintiffs' litigation firm.

The problem was not that she was a conservative. But rather that she did not have the insight or judgment to realize that the ideals of the Federalist Society were not particularly aligned with those of the firm. I had to conclude that she didn't care or just wasn't too sharp. Either way, it's not good.

Stay away from politics and religion.

Some of the comment I read in this thread is tickling the hell out of me! However, on a serious note, I dont think being a member of a political affiliation has any pedigree of getting hired. Now, if you follow the country's politics analytically, then you have to agree with me that the trend of thoughts between republicans and democrats is highly polarized. My advice to you is this: stay away from politics when drafting your resume.

Take care
