Pepsi stops selling Pepsi at schools

Pepsi has decided it will stop selling all of its soda that contains calories in schools as of 2012. I'd say that's admirable that they took the initiative without the government intervening. It should have some marketing implications in their favor over Coca Cola.

Quote:
at means PepsiCo Inc. will sell only water, fat-free or low-fat milk, and juice with no added sugar. In secondary schools, it will sell those drinks along with low-calorie soft drinks, such as Diet Pepsi, which has zero calories. Sports drinks are permissible when they're sold to students participating in sports or other physical activities.

If this were Coke, and if I were still in school, I would be pissed.

Also...diet soda is just as bad for you as regular.

Admirable to an extent...I am sure Coke likes this step.

Weren't they getting not-so-subtle pressure from the Obama administration though? By the way, I applaud Pepsi for doing this.

So instead the kids will go down to the corner store to get it.

Ah the nanny-state.

Good PR, and a step in the right direction, though I reckon it won't put a dint into obesity rates.

My senior year (last year) of high school. They did this except in the teachers pod's they had all the soda's so we would just ask the cool teachers to get it for us. I just think its stupid though.

I think this is a good move, but I wonder if the school has seen a decrease in weight among those overweight.

pepsi can't un-tarnish its image, it will always be pepsi and that is unforgivable.

It would be a smarter move if schools would start with the food before drinks cause thats where the problem is at more then the drinks.

I guess it's a great news . The youth generation needs to know how to take care of their bodies correctly . For many years , in the US we had problems with obesity although it's not only due to those companies , they still played a major role .Pepsi is the first one , couple of ones will end up following them or I believe schools are going to start banning them. I'm glad to know our country's making change , it's for the best .

isn't school supposed to be a pretty important place to have that happen?

Tell your buddies at Coca-Cola to compete with Pepsi Throwback, and none of this 'just get Mexican coke or passover' bullshit
