Lexington for 5 days...Bourbon ideas?

I'm going to be in Lexington, KY for a few days and am wanting some brands of bourbon to try while there. I'm more of an irish whiskey drinker myself but while I'm there it would be good to try something local or different than the brands found throughout the country. When I do drink bourbon I like Makers, over ice or with a little ginger ale.

If you are gonna drink anything other than Maker's Mark, don't mix it with ginger ale, or at least don't let the locals see you do it.

A few things to watch out for are Michter's, Noah's Mill, Pappy Van Winkle, Eagle Rare, George T. Stagg, or Booker's. Note that Kentucky ain't the promised land when it comes to bourbon. Yeah, it's made there, but I get to Kentucky fairly often and don't find the bourbon selection any different than anywhere else in the south. If you're a yankee you might notice a difference..

What Gnatty said. The only way you are going to find truly unique bourbons is by going to the distilleries, and even then its a crap shoot. Michter's, Noah's Mill, Pappy Van Winkle, Eagle Rare, George T. Stagg, or Booker's and Four Roses Single Barrel are all a significant steps up from Mitcher's so those are good place to start.
