I have a friend who is quite large; I'm not sure but around 6 foot 5 inches. He is also somewhat heavy.

Are there any good sites/forums for people like him? Discussion topics on clothes and apparel that are not for the average sized person?

From my understanding, its difficult for him to even find a descent shirt that fits him properly.

Tell him to try Men's Wearhouse (very helpful), JC Penney(very nice people) and the Big n Tall Man's Shop(decent clothes).

I'm tall. I can wear some shirts off the rack so long as the arms are a decent length, so there's not many problems there if I shop around a bit (can be a headache). I do have very long legs though, so either bespoke for casual and formal pants or japanese brands for chinos and jeans (37" or sometimes 39" inseams to be had with brands like Momotaro).

Footwear: I can fit Loake size 13G, which is also equal to about 14EE Alden size. I do have 1 pair of Alden's in 14EE (thrifted). Sneakers I usually take a 15D (Lacoste do nice streetwear sneakers in clean designs). Allen Edmonds also do a HUGE range of sizes and widths.

Staples like T-Shirts are available in tall fitted sizing from Banana Republic and Gap. They also have cheaper casual pants with a 36" inseam.

Suiting you're best going bespoke. Otherwise find brands that do X-long or long sizes. I can get X-long, but I need the body tapered usually (side seams taken in).

Places like rochesterclothing.com are not very SF approved, but if you're really big and your options are limited, then you can get some reasonable pieces from them from time to time. Even if you just want some plain polos or something.

Ultimately, at 6'7"/201.5cm I have a tailor. What I purchase always needs altering. I'm an athletic build, tall with long limbs, thick thighs, broad shoulders. It's surprisingly nightmarish to get clothes. Give it some time and thought though - more or less via trial and error, I have managed to build up a solid range of brands that work for me and, what I feel, has now become a decent wardrobe.

Are there any brands out there which cater to big and tall people dress shirts?
