i seem to like driveways in modern houses that go down to a lower level or basement. what do you like? my current 1 is a 6 car garage beneath a townhouse. it is not long and swooping though just squarish and bland really.

Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road: There, sitting on top of the mountain, is a huge palace belonging to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the current ruler of the Emirates. His face also adorns a huge banner announcing the entrance to the road and it's under his watch that it was constructed. This incredible feat of engineering is actually no more than a giant driveway. http://www.insideline.com/mini/coope...ving-road.html

My driveway is definitively long and swooping. We're up on a hill to take advantage of the views, and the driveway actually has guardrails.

^ i'm jealous! if i ever leave the city i'd like something still modest in size like the ones above but farther from the main street. the place i lived before my current 1 had a 1 car garage and only space for 1 more car in front by the sidewalk.

We have three bays, but they are two cars deep. So, there's room for 6 cars. Someday...

I bought 90 ac. to build a weekend home/little ranch about 40 min from the medical center in Houston. Its convenient and near enough to where both of us can commute to work from there if needed. Scared of making the driveway....maybe just make a gravel road!!

Regards.

You should probably talk to Douglas about that.

Those do look cool, but I think getting up to the kitchen would be a PITA when you're unloading a trunk full of groceries.

that's what household help is for. but good point. a friend of mine says it's also bad luck according to feng shui that it goes down but i'm not superstitious and i don't trust her expertise on the subject.

would be a bummer if i couldn't get something done similar since i rarely like houses as a structure. i'm more interested in townhouses, which is what i live in now, or apartments where in the interiors are the only thing that needs to be considered.

I like those driveways with two tracks and grass in the center.
