Star Dining In Paris.

Ok, so I'm back to Paris for a few days in June and would like to hit up a few "fancy" dining establishments. A few I've been to already:

Le Bristol
Meurice
Le Violon de Ingres
Le Fables de la Fontaine

Places I'm contemplating include (in no particular order):

Apicus
L’Astrance
L’Ambroisie
Guy Savoy
Pierre Gagnaire
Taillevent
Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée
La Bigarrade

Suggestions?

Is there a question here? Guy Savoy was the first starred restaurant I ate in as an adult. It was very good twelve years ago, and I assume it is at least as good now, if not better. Not my all time favorite, but excellent. I really like l'Astrance. Have returned a few times. Pretty casual for a 3-star restaurant. I was supposed to go to Ambroisie some time back but forgot to confirm so they cancelled me. I suggest confirming. I hated Pierre Gagnaire. Loved Taillevent the times I went, but I believe it is a bit different now. Can't really make a suggestion. Never been to Alain Ducasse Paris, but I've not loved his food elsewhere as much as others have. Also not been to Apicius, but I would like to. It looks very good. Never heard of La Bigarrade. ................................... Of the group I would go to Ambroisie. I am still pissed that I didn't confirm, and that I haven't thought to go back on subsequent visits. The food looks really excellent, and to be just the style I like. I'd also go to l'Astrance or Savoy in a second.

I loved it - more casual (decor may not be for everyone) but food is very impressive and more creative and open-minded than when it was Lucas Carton. Some Asian and other cuisines' influences. Not the place to go for a pure traditional French dining experience. The upstairs bar is also nice and has a food selection from the kitchen.

I'm definitely glad I had the chance to go when it was LC, but it looks great to me now. I look forward to trying it. I just don't spend enough time in Paris .

I had one of my single best dishes at Senderens. A variation on the Chinese soup with dumplings - the broth was just perfect, light and fragrant, and there were plump fresh foie gras dumplings in there. Amazing combination.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I think I'll try to get a lunch seat at Apicius (due to mostly location and ambiance) and then go for either L'Astrance or L'Ambroisie for dinner one evening.

BTW, whats the deal with Pre Catelan? I've heard its gone down hill, if true thats a shame - it looks like a fine place to have a memorable meal.
