Right turns on red should be illegal.

There's some kind of saying about one thing spoiling a bunch of things. I forgot what it was.

But theoretically, being able to make a right on a red is a good allowance in driving rules.

But of course there are so many idiots who don't understand that a) you have to stop, like everyone else, before you can go b) NO, you don't actually have the right of way to pull out in front of oncoming (perpendicular) traffic.

God it pisses me off so bad when I'm going 50mph and some asshole pulls out right in front of me, or pulls out halfway into my lane and then stops.

Why is it so bad to start threads?

Where are you from? Does this really happen that often? In the areas I have driven, cars act as they should; i don't see the problem.

OMG yes. Happens so much. I'll be driving and hey maybe I wanted to switch lanes to the right lane then BAM some rightonred turner turns right in front of me. Or they dart out into my lane before stopping. ALL THE TIME

It's annoying because SF isn't a personal blog; there's no need to start a bunch of threads so we can hear your musings. There are existing threads where you could have posted your gripe (this one, for example), so there wasn't really a need for a whole new thread just for you to vent your aggravation.

In California... Vehicle Code 21658(a) states "(a) A vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practical entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from the lane until such movement can be made with reasonable safety. " You can get a ticket for an "unsafe lane change" if doing so in the intersection. It is really dangerous to switch lanes in the middle of an intersection so if you're doing this from the middle or outside lane to the inside lane and getting mad at the driver turning right into the inside lane then .

You should not be changing lanes when approaching or crossing an intersection, so you are the one in the wrong here.

Up here we also turn left on reds, if it's a one-way to one-way... sometimes out of the second outermost lane... on a four lane roadway... which seems damn close to having people just run red lights.

But you are as much in the wrong as someone turning in front of you (if you didn't change lanes approaching the intersection. If you did, you're more in the wrong).

It's very much the point though. You started a thread to complain about other drivers, when you yourself are the one in the wrong in half of your examples. Where's the thread about people who change lanes at intersections?
