Hi All,

I'll be in London this coming weekend for a couple of days and am wondering if the local Londoners on here know of anything going on that I should be checking out, i.e. museum exhibits, shows, etc.

Thanks in advance.

There's a Bach weekend at the South Bank complex.

At Covent Garden, Charles Mackerras is conducting Janacek.

Ooops - I should've clarified that this isn't my first time in London....I was specifically looking for things going on this weekend. Thanks for all the suggestions so far though.

Weather's been better lately, so consider doing Spitalfields, UpMarket, Brick Lane on Sunday.

Big fixture! This was the first 'European' match I ever saw. As a soccer crazy kid I made my dad get tickets (whole family went) during a London trip sometime after the double in the early 70s. We sat in (?) stand at Highbury (shed to our left, clock end to the right). It was pretty Fantastic atmoshere! Lots of Irish in the squad: Bob Wilson, Sammy Nelson, Pat Rice, Alan Ball, Liam Brady, Georgie Armstrong, Charlie George(?), John Radford, etc. West Ham's killer midfield of Bonds, Paddon, & Brooking. The Hammers also featured the first (?) 1st Division black player, Clyde Best. I think Mervyn Day was their keeper...

Charlie George What a man, scored some iconic goals for both Arsenal and Derby most notably FA Cup winning goal, to secure double, against Liverpool and hat-trick for Derby against Real Madrid in European Cup!

Now working as a Host I believe at Arsenal's new stadium the Emirates. So, if you go along and give a good blag, or flash some cash, you may get to meet the legend!

Halcyon days indeed...

The Baseball Ground! I love the names of Britain's football stadia. The only thing that registers when I think of Derby County is Bruce Rioch(?) - Scottish international IINM.....

I was visiting my parents last weekend and found the stacks of my old Shoot subscription

The Royal Ballet's performing La Fille mal gardee tomorrow and Saturday. It is probably the finest comedic ballet still in rep and was made on the Royal so you would see it danced with the right style. Either cast is good, but I would see Nunez/Acosta if this is your first time. --Andre
