Recommendations for a new lighter

I need to get a new cigarettes lighter. I've been using a mini zippo, not the one for lighting candles, but the one that is basically a normal zippo, but 2/3 the size. The problem though is that the flame is tiny, it takes about 4 flicks to light, it goes out right away and needs to be refilled every few days. Before that I used a normal zippo, which worked pretty good, but I broke it when I tried to fit a dunhill flint inside it because I was out of zippo flints. Is it worth it just to get another zippo or are there other brands worth trying? I have a dunhill rollergas, but it doesn't hold gas very well and I don't feel like paying $150 to get it fixed.

I returned my zippo for repairs, it was free, just paid shipping of like <$5. They were super nice and sent it back with new parts and extra stuff, no charge. Took at least a month though. plus I'm pretty sure there are a few threads tucked away on this topic, just sayin'

Buy a zippo copy off DealExtreme.com for a fraction of the price.

My wife gave me this Porsche PD3 lighter a while ago and I love it. It feels great in your hand and is slim in your pocket. It also works in the wind. Many better cigar stores carry them. I would recommend checking it out.

I have a fantastic lighter, its St. Dupont. They are more design than function though. I also have a Porsche design lighter which is also very good looking but also is very finctional.

Check out St Duponts Xtend lighters. I have one. I love it.

i hate zippos, and i wish i could muster up the strength to throw mine in the garbage although in a way, the putrid taste of butane serves as a gentle reminder that im slowly killing myself and, someday, could conceivably even lead me to change my life's direction. thanks for looking out for me, Zippo Corporation

I was just given one of these for my birthday. I love anything flat black. Unlimited engraving potential.

I have a Dupont Xtend. It's fantastic -- feels sturdy and lights well every time. Before that, I had a $50 Lotus, which was a nice lighter, but the Xtend is really just so much better. I disagree strongly about the comment that they are more design than function. They work as well on the 1000th light as they do on the 1st.

Although I think the Xtend is one of the best lighters I've come accross, there are a lot of lighters by Dupont that are more design than function.

I like the ST Dupont Ligne 2.

get a nice butane one like the porsche or duponts mentioned here. Gilt had the Porsches not long back-- if you wait around they will probably carry something similar again.

I understand your point but the one i have was a gift and it is a Gatsby with the Chinese lacquer. The one your talking about is definitely very functional

I might just buy another zippo, maybe the gas ones. I tend to lose or damage my lighters so I don't really want to buy a dupont as nice as they are.
