Beckham has injured himself, so he will be out of the cup.

That's unfortunate. As if England didn't have enough bad luck with injured players during World Cups, something like this happens.

It's a shame. I really like Becks - I think he is unfairly maligned. I think it's pretty douchey that anyone would give a to someone suffering a pretty devastating injury that ruins a dream. I was looking forward to seeing how he would perform... he seems to rise to the occasion when the pressure is on. England is a better side with him than without him, IMO. Add in the controversy from the Wayne Bridge/John Terry situation and the UK press is going to really work itself into a lather over the next few months.

kinda dick to be so happy that he can't play. I don't like the dude and never thought he was really all that nice, but he still deserves to do what he does best.

P.S don't wish anything on Ronaldo or I'm personally coming for you son.

While I don't necessarily agree with the first statement, I'm with you on the second. He's definitely one of England's better captains and a maestro with set pieces.

I really like Beckham. He's the consummate professional. He's not out asking Asian women to trim their bush to mimic his hairstyles or anything. He just goes about his business and is always in tremendous shape. His wife on the other hand is ridiculous.

I feel really badly for him.

Beckham is fiercely patriotic where the England team are concerned, and his football dream, above anything else, was to be part of a successful cup-winning squad.

I can't imagine what he feels like today. He'll be too old for the next tournament in 2014, so his dream is over forever. In the whole scheme, that's pretty sad.

Those of you commenting on Scarphe's spelling should note that English is his second language. 'Becham' sounds like 'Beckham' in his primary language.

I too am disappointed that Beckham looks like he won't be playing. He's not George Best, but I think he's as good as they've got in terms of discipline, attitude, and conditioning. If the whole England side worked as hard as he does, I think they would fare better on the world stage.

even an england that is has been hit morally i stilla weaker england, anything to that allows that allows my prefred teams to have a better chance. i arleady did, but i fear the large group of mexicans more than you, but than again i would also have lagre group behind me tryign to keep the old guy out of it.
