The toe is shinier than the rest of the upper but not egregiously so like all the promo shots make it seem. It just looks good. I get positive comments on mine all the time -- bizarrely, way more than my Chromexcel Indys. Go figure.

They are similar enough that it comes down to you. The PF's have a removable insert with arch support, Chucks are flat on bottom. I find both comfortable enough; though I have the Center Hi's in leather (my canvas PF's are Cousy which you ruled out). I'm somewhat positive they are identical except in material. And you can probably run in them, but you wouldn't want to go ON runs in them if you take my meaning. Pretty much all these type of shoes were originally designed for athletics, like in the 20's and 30's and 40's and shit, but nowadays I think they are made just for looks and maybe comfort depending on brand/model. IMO, every dude should own at least 1 pair of chucks though, just for gettin' around. edit: Also, I don't know if this type of thing matters to you, but the Chuck Taylor hi's have the round Converse logo on the inner sides of the shoe. The Center Hi's have the round PF emblems are on the outer sides. ::shrug::

Little bit darker but that will definitely do.

Thanks.

Yea, I'm not sure, but it could just be the lighting/image brightness.

Kinda late to the party........ but does anyone know where I can find the brown color of the ablin's in men 11?

I think they just look so clean and simple, I don't know why PF Flyers stopped making them

I prefer PF Flyers and if you are looking for a good deal on either of the brands 6pm.com is the perfect website to get them on. I get all of my shoes there. :)
