master cleanse diet

anyone tried it? basically de-toxes and flushes out your system. (shades of marc37, i know. i will not be drinking my own urine, rest assured.)

i'm starting it tomorrow, i hope to make it through ten days of special lemonade and salt-water-flushing. ought to be an interesting experiment anyway.

yeah, me too. i'm not really looking forward to the first two or three days.

i had nutella straight from the jar today, a sort of last hurrah.

If all you want are spic-and-span insides, just do a one-day prep like people do prior to a colonoscopy. One day with nothing but clear fluids and lemon jello, and a Fleet laxative before bed. Then wake up, do one more Fleet and you're done.

If this is the same lemonade cleanse I'm thinking of (probably), a guy I know did it a few years ago, and had a tough time with it, though he was detoxing lots of caffeine and tobacco at the time, which probably didn't help. As I recall, he felt much better afterwards, though, and seems much healthier overall now.

Wait, you can actually flush out your system and get health benefits from doing it? Doesn't your body automatically do this?

I know someone that did it for 2-3 days. She didn't like the process, but she was pleased with the result, even after 2 days.

Ethiopians do a similar thing all the time.

It's called starving yourself.

Very unhealthy.

Exactly. The best way to do it is just to eat better foods and exercise.

I have to wonder if something like this makes people feel better or just think that they feel better.

there's a difference?

anyways. apparently there's junk (mucoid plaque, yuck) stuck in your colon, from years of eating food that's hard to digest. enemas and colonics don't get it out. one day of clear liquids also apparently isn't enough. i guess there's enough anecdotal evidence out there to convince me this is probably true. it won't turn me into a raw-food vegan though.

but the other part of this diet is de-tox, which also apparently takes longer than a day. (10 days at least, so the story goes.) again, anecdotal evidence suggests the body definitely 'feels better' once the toxins are cleared out. (indicator is 'pink tongue' - i guess it gets fuzzy and non-pink-colored during the detox. yuck.)

i'm kindof hungry, but i won't starve because i'm getting V&M's and calories from the lemonade (made with maple syrup and cayenne pepper). so it's not a starvation diet.

worst part so far is drinking salt water in the morning. man i don't like the way it tastes. but it does shoot through the tubes.

Seems to be the same as that fellow who was hitting himself in the head with a hammer.

Someone asked him why he did it.

"I feel so good when I quit."

FB, back when I was a lot healthier, I used to do something similar, not 10 days in a row, but one or two every couple of months. like you said, it flushes you out pretty effitiently.
good luck

i'm hungry, i won't lie. if i drank more of the lemonade i might not be. but it's getting a little boring. i daydream of pizza, chicken tikka masala, hamburgers, seared tuna, and martinis. i watch food shows on tv.

drinking the salt water each morning is still not fun, although this morning was a little less gag-inducing for some reason. it does work though, and seems to go thru my system faster every day.

i won't detail what goes on in the WC, but suffice it to say there are still things happening.

today i am very grumpy and short-tempered. might have something to do with the fact that the in-laws are visiting and we went to a july 4th street fair replete with many types of aromatic foodstuffs, about each of which my father-in-law (who is not participating in this diet, although he could sure use it) would gleefully murmer "oh damn, doesn't that barbeque smell GOOD!"

yesterday was interesting in that my sense of smell was heightened, and we were out in the local state forest with all the pine and eucalyptus, etc.

no other major de-tox symptoms. my tongue was greenish yesterday morning, today more yellowish-white. that's probably too much information.
