So I am 20 years old, turning 21 in September, and I live in central Indiana. I am planning a 3 day weekend trip to Windsor, Canada with a couple amigos. (Perhaps a trip for our motorcycles? hmmm...) I chose Windsor for a couple of reasons, 1) reasonable driving distance from my University 2) drinking age is 19 there ( i know, i know, only 6 months or so to wait here in the USA, but thats besides the point) 3) they have casinos and gaming there, and its hella closer to home than Vegas is 4) I get in a pinch, I have family that is Canadian that can help me if need be So my question to you is, have you been? What was your experience like? Where did you stay? What did you do? Any nice bars there? What was the rough cost of your trip? Anything special you did there that you recommend (hotels, restaurants, microbrews, shows, etc)?

Windsor is a dump, think mini-Detroit.
It's a rough town not made any better by the people who come across the border to party, cause trouble and generally act like idiots. There are few good restaurants and I'd advise purchasing a stab proof vest if you want to go to a bar. The casino is a hole too.
If I were you I'd travel the extra 2-2.5 hours up the highway to London. There is a huge university and college there (and I mean huge) and a very very good bar scene. Try the Barking Frog, Jack's, Cowboy's, Jim Bob's, the Ceeps and the London Tap House. You won't even need a hotel, the girls there will provide a place to stay (you think I'm kidding, but I'm not...).

I was hoping you would have some advice! lol
Is it really that bad in Windsor? Other than London, what are some other good places to go for what I want to do?

I'm sure someone who lives there will pipe up with a long winded rant about how great the city is. But in reality it sucks.
As far as distance is concerned London is the next closest place to Windsor. Another two hours or so east is the Tri-Cities and Guelph, but that would take you almost 5 hours extra. I'd say go to London, it's a few extra hours East on the highway and far and away a better party city then Windsor.
The only other options for you is to head North to Sault St Marie (small little Northern Ontario city, but actually a pretty decent party scene) or go to Niagara Falls (fun town, but a tourist trap so it's a bit cheesy).
Or just go to Vegas.

Windsor is not as much as a dump as it was in the summer now that the sanitation department is no longer on strike. There are some good things about Windsor... There is a pretty decently sized Italian community with some very good and very inexpensive restaurants. If you want to gamble, the casinos are all smoke free which is much nicer than the casinos in Detroit. I think a three day weekend in Windsor would get pretty boring after about 3 hours (of course, living only 20 minutes from there and having gone a lot when I was 19 and 20, may have colored my opinion of it a bit). As others have mentioned, London has a lot more to do. It's a much larger city and there are some great bars for live music (there is live music in Windsor as well, but not nearly as much or as often). A bit further east is St. Catherines, Ontario. I've driven through there a few times and it always looked like an interesting town and I know there are a few universities there so that might be an option as well.

It's a dive. The last time I was there was with a few friends and my friends old boss. He spends a lot up there so they put him in this ridiculous penthouse at the Casino. We were walking around checking out the bars, which are filled with 19 year olds and zero talent...anyway an employee leads us to this bar claiming that they have an awesome vip room yada yada. We get there and the vip room was a cement floor space that hadn't been drywalled yet, a couple scattered metal folding chairs and no table. It was almost unbelievable that he had the balls to do that, and at the same time pretty funny because they were really trying to work this empty room as vip. I can only imagine how much worse it is now, this was 3 years ago.

St Catherines is boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring. Don't even bother.
If you're going to drive that far go to Kitchener/Waterloo (Tri-Cities or the K-Dub as they call it there) or Guelph. Both have big schools, lots of young folk and great nightlife (if you're into that sort of thing). I assume the original poster is looking to come party somewhere he'll be legal. So, in increasing distance from your start point;
London -> Tri Cities -> Guelph -> Niagara Falls.
Toronto is alright too, nothing spectacular (been there a few times, had fun but nothing overly special...although some of the clubs are pretty fancy).

fun as hell when you hit Brock parties man.I have indeed.
The parties of which you speak are meh. For where the original poster is coming from there's far better places to go along the 401. To take the detour to St Catherines for a mediocre party scene...not really worth it.
Most people I know from there went elsewhere to have a good time.

really? because I was just there the other week and it was fun as hell. Also, some of the hottest girls I knew growing up go there and they have even hotter friends. It's pretty dope.
Remember, I've partied at pretty much every school in southern Ontario.
