Well, that's exactly my point. I mean, yes, the build-up was interesting and all especially when they revealed the 2 body bags and further wreckage but how exactly did the plane crash significantly affect the two main characters directly? It didn't.
Sure, Jesse went into rehab but that was more a direct outcome of Jane's death -- which I still consider the one of the series' highlights . After dealing with the plane crash aftermath in the S3 premiere, it was hardly ever mentioned again.
All that to say, Season 2 had its moments but the plane crash was not one of them. Vince Gilligan himself has stated multiple times that writing that season was extremely challenging and mapping out the plane crash was one of the reasons why.
