So your contention is he either was not part of the team that used his "ground breaking research", or he was a member of the team, and the fellow that contributed the "ground breaking research" was cut out of the prize money? I'm going to contend that the guy that did the ground breaking research was part of the team and the team did not cut him out of the prize money.
Whatever happened that made him leave Gray matter and become a bitter under achiever happened post-1985 I'm going to go with my scenario until proven wrong. It is TV-land, so maybe you're right, but it doesn't fit with the character time line.
Now, in 2008, Gray Matter was nominated for one and Walt's research might have been part of that but Walt definitely was not.

so i think he left before anything "big" happened in the "project" also there was some love affair issue between he and the rich lady or walt chose skylar instead, either way he left before anyone hit it big

side note: last episode was so insane how walt was talking at the table that they overcame all these obstacles and talking so positively as if none of the bad things he did happened, i guess thats reality we choose to forget the bad things and act as if they didnt happen, BB is definitely being very realistic in that respect.

^walt does come off as the type you'll typically see in high school and college who are incredibly bright - and seem to think that being incredibly smart is enough to be successful in life - only to come to the harsh reality that its not.

so in effect he probably outsmarted himself and didn't decide to invest in the company - which then hit it big.

and it looks to be his achilles heel - because he's over thinking his situation right now to his detriment.

his mistake in the past was not gambling a little in his own talent, now he's over compensating for past mistakes - when pulling your chips off the table while ahead - would be the smartest move.

in the end skylar's move actually did help and cover some of walt's problems. its considered sunk cost.

Can't you see we're busy beating up Skylar? Please don't confuse the issue with facts.

I don't remember laughing once during last night's episode. Things are getting heavy.

"Hey-Oh, it's a pool party!"

I don't get all the hate for Skylar. She's been getting **** on every season of the show. She's not a fun character but she isn't meant to be. I used to like Walt but he's turned into a pretty awful person - I'd like (and hope) to see how he gets his due. Mike and Jesse are by far the best characters. Walt has broken Jesse down so much it's sad. I also like how awkward Lydia is. Marie still annoys me but she means well. Hank has grown on me a ton.

I agree with you regarding Skylar. I'm guessing that she's always been the way that she's been and ultimately Walt chose to be with her. If he wakes up one day and finds himself unhappy with it, he only has himself to blame.

She's had it rough but she became pretty unsympathetic the moment she slept with Beneke. Ok, so your husband makes meth... Get over it. He did it so you and your son wouldn't be destitute in the very likely possibility that he dies in the next couple of months. Her solution? She kicks him out of the house and tries to prevent him seeing his son. Then when he tries to move back in she goes and ***** some other dude to make sure their marriage becomes irreparable.

I always thought that she slept with Beneke at a time that took place before the show. I know that at one point when she goes back to work for him that they kiss a little bit, but they never full on get it on, right?

AND she lost $650K of his (their) money.

Eh, I don't look at it that way at all. The reality is that she was on the hook for those financial statements, which she now knows contain fraudulent information. The $650M is well worth it to keep the IRS out of your business.

She's the one I hate the most on the whole show. I'd ring her neck if I was Hank. ******* purple everything. Like she's stuck on Lent or something. And I dont think she means well.
BTW > Hank mentioned again that second cell phone. That's going to matter at some point.

I think you mean Advent.

Here's something I've never 100% had a handle on: why did Walt leave the company he co-founded? Was it over the chic? Over Skylar?

Eh, I don't think we will ever get a clear answer on these types of questions. It's the burden of making a show where you want people to focus on the details, but don't always provide all the information to go along with those details. I'm not comparing BB to Lost, but Lost suffered from the same thing.

"All I can do is wait!"

"Wait for what? What're you waiting for?"

"For the cancer to come back."

Man, that gave me goosebumps.

Not that Walt doesn't deserve it at this point, but that was such a perfect example of how women can always find the most hurtful thing possible to say to a man.

I've been watching some of the back episodes over the last few weeks, and in the episode when she is meeting with a divorse lawyer, she says basically the same thing "I'd rather not divorse him, he's going to die soon anyway"

"There are two kinds of heists. Ones where the guys get away and ones where they leave witnesses."

Expect Jesse to have an especially hard time with it while Walt shrugs it off as the cost of doing business.
