Countdown to Breaking Bad!!! - Page 107

Another detail that is bothering me: I do somewhat understand having a getaway bag at the airport, but (a) seems like you should have another one somewhere closeby and (b) why would you have a gun in it? If anything is going to make a getaway at the airport more difficult, it's a gun.

I thought he put it there because of the long term parking (this seems like an expensive option though for a long term plan), allowing him to have a getaway car/bag stashed somewhere that no one would disturb it, not necessarily so he could fly out (Although it would give him that option as well). I assume it wouldn't be too hard to ditch the gun if he did decide to fly out.

Did you see all the money he had in the bag? Assuming that he placed what he felt was enough money to get by comfortably for a while, having a second bag stashed somewhere else with an equal amount would be an expensive option. He would either have to make a go for the 2nd bag, which would be dangerous, or throw away the cash.

I agree the airport wouldn't have been my top choice, but Gradstudent has a good take on that above. If he needed to fly out he could simply leave the gun behind.

My guess is the gun was there only in case he needed it. Say he just got out of jail: he wouldn't be armed, but he might need a gun quickly. This could be the (a) solution. On the other hand, if he were intending to fly immediately after retrieving the bag, it would be easy to simply leave the gun behind or dump it in a garbage bin.

I still can't believe that Mike let Walt get his go bag for him. Yes, he was pretty desperate, but it was still a huge break in the Mike character.

I think they made it pretty clear that was Mike's only option. The families of his nine guys would have been watched pretty closely (and could he have trusted them?), Saul certainly couldn't do it, and...I don't remember Jesse's deal (okay, so I forgot something). Besides, they'd been getting along pretty well of late. Walt may have disobeyed Mike recently, but he proved he wasn't out to screw Mike and even demanded Declan pay Mike up front.

on the airport - airport parking lots are well gaurded, and people park there for a month at a time, often. there are plenty of transportaiton options out of an airport. if you want to leave a bag someplace that is extremly important to you and not worry too much about it being stolen, that isn't such a bad place.

on calling saul and having walt bring him that bag - remember, mike cleaned out everything, so that if he was arrested nothing would be found on him. that means that most probably he didn't want to have a lot of telephone numbers on him, either. he's over 60, 65, can he remember 25 tel numbers? so who is he going to call?

Mike knew there was a good chance that the DEA could be watching where he stashed the bag. The reason he wanted to send Saul was because he honestly didn't care that much if they caught him. Jesse volunteered to make the grab, but as we have seen before Mike is protective of him. He didn't want to see the guy get caught. His only choice left was Walt, which likely wasn't that hard of one for him to make. What would Mike have cared ,at that point, if the DEA caught Walt? If anything, he would have liked to have seen that.

Good point.

I don't think Mike considered Walt as a threat, which partly explains why he was caught off-guard when he opened the bag and found the gun missing. I mean, the way Mike told Walt off like that, I don't think you'd be doing that unless you felt positive the other person wouldn't retaliate in one form or another.

So we have one more episode this "season" right? Any theories on what the cliffhanger will be?
I imagine Walt will sucessfully orchestrate taking out all but maybe 1 or 2 of the guys in prison and we will be left with wondering if he can get to the last guy(s) before the DEA does.

Sklyar/kids taken hostage? Walt have Jesse at gun point? Hank running out to serve a warrant on Heisenberg?
