seriously how is that call made. benefit of the doubt on that situation. he is scheduled to be the home plate ump tomorrow. probably not after tonight though. i bet MLB reassigns him for the day off.

To his credit, he looked like he took it well. I would have taken a fungo bat to the guy's knee.

joyce is already on the radio here saying he ed up

i understand people make mistakes. however, it's the last out-everyone from players to umps are-or should be on it. I can't understand how this guy blew such an obvious call.

i do hope the league takes notice of screw ups like this guy and don't put them on post season crews

WTF, are we just handing out perfect games instead of signing bonuses now or something?
We need umpires to rein this shit in. It's getting out of control.

I'm not a Nats fan, but here comes Strasburg!! In 3 years the Nats could be like the 94 Expos.

This kid is 4 real. 10Ks thru 6 in his first major league start! Edit: Wow. 7 innings pitched. 14Ks. Last 6 outs were struck out swinging. Are you kidding me?
This guy is as good as advertised; electric debut.
GODDAMMIT stupid Nationals manager. Taking him out at only 94 pitches when he could have gone for the rookie strikeout record. Doh!

He does look good. I hope for his sake he can keep it going for a long time and not flame out like Wood or Prior.

Also, I used to like Costas but just cannot stand him now.

If you were to tell me in 1986 that Doc Gooden wouldn't win at least 200 games I would have bet you a million bucks.

I remember when Ben Grieve, Drew Henson, Pat Burrell, Eric Henskie, Pokey Reece, Gookie Dawkins etc were going to be the next big thing.

+1. Every bloop single to right field is the fall of the Berlin Wall in his eyes.
