Seattle Mariners vs Oakland Athletics

I don't remember who it was or where it was, but I have a bet with someone on the season series between the M's and A's. Personally, I think the M's are going to kill Oakland this year, but I can't remember who I'm supposed to gloat to when it happens.

Someone remind me and/or trash talk.

I wonder if either of them will beat the Rangers. That's gonna be a fun division.

I am not overly enamored with the Rangers pitching.
But who knows.

If only more than 10% of the population gave a rats ass about the AL West.

Are you an Orioles fan?

Yes, and we're building towards respectability...thanks to the M's. We'll tell you how Tillman & Jones are working out for us this season.

The Rangers are going to be a lot worse than the (dumber) analysts are predicting. The rotation is weak, Neftali Feliz isn't going to be Jesus (and might potentially be downright mediocre as a flyball pitcher, tired, in the Texas heat of July and August), the only bat they added in the offseason is an elderly arthritic dude who depends on bat speed and Josh Hamilton sucks. Now that they have a new owner, I wish them well, but it's going to be hilarious when they're in third place at the All-Star Break and the local media is piling on.

You are welcome. The previous regime was dumb as shit. We made a lot of teams better. Not just the Orioles. That was a particularly stupid trade though. Hopefully we can salvage something out of Bedard as our 3rd or 4th starter, but I'm not holding my breath.

You telling me that nobody cares about our teams though, is somewhat ironic isn't it?

Nope, why would it be. Your team is in the unfortunate position of starting games when 75% of baseball fans are heading to bed, and that's with the earlier 10:05est start times in the begining of the season. The 10:35est start times are a complete joke.

FWIW, I remember in college I had an 8:00 class time and decided to stay up and watch an O's M's game a few years ago. 10:00pm start time and the games goes into extra innings. Bottom of the 12 or 13th inning Mark Whitten hits a walk off HR for the M's. Boy was I pissed.

It's ironic because you and about a dozen other people care about the Orioles.

There's a lot of risk on that pitching staff, but a lot of upside too. Harden, Holland, Feliz, that guy that came back from Japan (Lewis?) There's a lot of young talent there that could contribute. Most of the surprise teams lately have fit that mold, with top prospects contributing before people expected them to. It's not like the other teams in that division don't have question marks too.

Orioles fan here. '97 wire-to-wire baby! This thread now has at least as many O's fans as Mariners fans.

Here's the difference, whenever you talk about the Yankees or Red Sox you have to talk about the O's.

You do?
I've never heard of this before and I watch a lot of sportscenter.

I think you can take your east coast elitism and eat it. You want to bet on the O's v M's series this year? I win, you have to admit that the Orioles are basically a less talented version of the Toronto Blue Jays. I win, and I'll admit that aside from Canadians, Mexicans, and the Japanese, nobody watches AL West games.
