I thought I would start this thread to give members the opportunity to concisely present their cultural activities of the preceding week.
My idea is to include; films seen, books read, shows/plays seen, exhibitions/galleries/concerts visited, music listened to, interesting or provoking magazine/site/newspaper articles read.
Just keeping to a list format if possible, with brief comments if useful or necessary, as too much detail tends to provoke Dostoievskian exposition and thus argument and result way, way OT.
So, to start. Up to and including Sunday:
Music CDs:
Rufus Wainwright - everything
John Zorn & Yamakata Eye - improv for 50th Birthday Concerts
Podcasts:
The usual BBC biz and arts podcasts and
Slate audio bookclub on Nicholson Baker's The Anthologist and Ian McEwan's Saturday
Films:
The Dreamers, (Bertolucci)'68ers with beautiful Eva Green in a menage a trois; great soundtrack with Hendrix and Joplin
The Hurt Locker;
A Passionate Kiss, (Ken Loach)Scottish Catholic girl meets Muslim boy
Books;
Started: Child In Time. Ian McEwan
Continuing: The Polyglots, William Gerhardie
Exhibitions:
Storia Memoria Identità , Contemporary Photography from Eastern Europe, Modena (www.mostre.fondazione-crmo.it)
