This was a gift from my boss. I kept it for a few months before I just sold it. It is pretty solid. Made in USA. You can't beat the quality. If I needed a sterling silver money clip I would buy a...

I have to have a sleep study done

Not sure if that would work for you, it is basically an at home sleep monitor. It is supposed to tell you the amount of time you spend in a certain state of sleep at night. I have a friend who is using one to see how different amounts of sleep affect his training the next day(for distance running)

I helped a buddy with this. I took him there at 11PM. They have sleeping rooms where they hook up people to face masks and monitors that measure your brain waves and breathing pattern, among other things. You will not be sleeping much with all the shit strapped to your head, but enough to give them enough data to assess your sleep and determine if you have any disorders. Pick up at 5 or 6 am.

There are different ways sleep studies are done.
I had one where I wore a watch for 2 weeks that kept track of movement and light. I had to record when I went to bed each night, how long it took me to fall asleep, if I woke up at night, what time I woke up in the morning.....

True. I think it depends on why you are having one done. My buddy was suspected to have sleep apnea and they needed to see if he stops breathing while asleep and how often he 'wakes up' to breath.
His numbers were bad, he woke up something like 60 times in a two hour period, or something like that.

Yes, this is my doctor's thought. I told him I have been having trouble concentrating at work and also that I've been waking up and not getting a good nights sleep, even when I tried going to bed at the same time every night for 2 weeks.

I'm heading for one of these too, for the same reasons. I also snore loud as hell.

The good news is that a CPAP machine can really help you guys, the bad news is that it is a bitch to get used to sleeping with a hose strapped to your face.

I had this a few years ago, and I have observed sleep labs as a saleman.
they basically put a shitload of sensors all over your body, not terribly comfortable, and observe you while you sleep. the monitors give them a good idea of how you sleep - what they are looking for is evidence of apnea, of your waking up during the course of the night.
I got used to the cpap machine pretty quickly, I actually found it very pleasant. lukily, having lost a lot of weight I don't need it any more.
good luck - if you have any specific quesitons pm me

I didn't want to have to get used to sleeping with some form of mask on my face a la Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet. So I have too much fat, is this the cause of my sleep apnea??

I have had 4 of them!!!
Cant find out whats wrong with me. Tired all the time. Its not too bad. They hook you up to a lot of monitors then you have to try and sleep in a strange place. If you do a MSLT they will make you take a bunch of naps during the day.
Good luck, I hope you find some relief. I decided to give up on figuring it out after 14 years of disappointments.
